JERNIGAN, H. W. Co D, 5th NC Infantry Enlisted 7-16-62 at Wake Co, NC.  Private, age 20.  Wounded 7-1-63 at Gettysburg, PA.  POW 5-12-64 at Spotsylvania Court House, VA.  Imprisoned at Old Capitol Prison, Wash DC.

Transferred 6-15-64 to Fort Delaware, DE where he died 3-23-65 of chronic diarrhea.

JERNIGAN, Handy B. Co C, 5th NC Infantry Enlisted 7-15-62 at Wake Co, NC.  Private, age 23.  POW 9-14-62 at South Mountain MD.  Imprisoned at Fort Delaware, DE.  Exchanged 11-10-62.  Wounded & POW 7-1-63 at Gettysburg, PA.  Imprisoned at Fort Delaware, DE where he took the Oath of Allegiance on 6-19-65.
JERNIGAN, J. J. Co D, 5th NC Infantry Enlisted 7-16-62 at Wake Co, NC.  Private, age 24, farmer.  POW 7-1-63 at Gettysburg, PA.  Imprisoned at Fort McHenry, MD.  Transferred 7-7-63 to Fort Delaware, DE.  Transferred 10-15-63 to Point Lookout Prison, MD where he died 1-4-64 due to disease.

JEWELL, William M. Co I, 3rd NC Cavalry Enlisted 2-12-62.  Private, age 23, resides Wake Co, NC.  Discharged 5-6-62 at Camp Ransom, NC due to chronic hepatitis.
